CMANA - Great Composers Day

The Carnatic Music Association of North America abbreviated as CMANA was established in U.S. in 1976.

The objective of CMANA is to promote learning and understanding of Carnatic music and related fine arts in North America. Carnatic music is one of the two systems of Indian classical music, practised mainly in South India and quite distinct from its northern counterpart, the Hindustani music.

CMANA serves serves the Indian-Americans by providing a cultural bridge to India. The association is supported by membership dues , donations and matching grants from donors' employers.

Every year, CMANA celebrates the Great Composers Day where they have the competitions for kids of various ages. This year , the great Composers Day (GCD) has been decided on September 3rd, 2011 and is to be conducted in Bridgewater temple, NewJersey.
